Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Mostyn Grove in Bow.
A small part of a three-roomed flat on the fourth floor of a residential block was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1503 and the fire was under control by 1531. Fire crews from Homerton, Bethnal Green, Stratford and Poplar fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a fault in a television.
