Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a house fire on Thorne Close in Leytonstone.
Part of the internal roof space of an end-of-terrace house was damaged by fire. One woman left the building before the Brigade arrived and was treated on scene.
Crews carried out salvage operations to recover items and minimise damage and searched adjoining properties to ensure that no one was inside and checked for fire spread.
The Brigade was called at 0351 and the fire was under control by 0457. Fire crews from Leytonstone, Stratford, Leyton and Homerton fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been caused by resistive heating.
