Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to a fire at a construction site on Oxford Street.
A small part of the basement was damaged by fire. Around 85 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1549 and the fire was under control by 1713. Fire crews from Soho, Paddington, Lambeth and Kensington fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by hot works being carried out.
