Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a block of flats under refurbishment on the High Street in Stratford.
There was a small fire in a lift motor room at roof level which was extinguished by onsite construction staff before the Brigade arrived. A small part of the room was damaged by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 12 calls to the fire.
The Brigade was called at 1259 and the incident was over for firefighters by 1339. Fire crews from Stratford, Poplar, Leyton and Bethnal Green fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
