House fire - Manor Park

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Manor Park Road in Manor Park.

Half of the ground floor and a small part of the first floor of an end-of-terrace house were damaged by the fire. Firefighters rescued two men from a first floor window via a short extension ladder. Another five men left the building before the Brigade arrived. Three men were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

The Brigade was called at 0653 and the fire was under control by 0807. Fire crews from East Ham, Ilford and Leytonstone fire stations were at the scene.

The fire is believed to have been accidental but the exact cause is under investigation.
