Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire on London Road in Plaistow.
A small part of a four roomed sixth floor flat and balcony in a 16 storey residential building was damaged by fire.
The Brigade was called at 1347 and the fire was under control by 1412. Fire crews from East Ham, Poplar, Leytonstone and Leyton fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
