Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire on York Street in Twickenham.
Part of internal ducting running through a building, made up of a restaurant and flats, was damaged by fire. Part of a roof was also damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.
Station Commander Stephen McGhie, who has been at the scene, said: "Crews worked extremely hard and quickly to work to extinguish the fire and prevent fire spread to neighbouring properties.
"Road closures were in place in York Street to allow firefighters to work safely but these closures have now been lifted. However, crews will remain at the scene this afternoon dampening down."
The Brigade was called at 1217 and the fire was brought under control by 1422. Crews from Twickenham, Richmond, Heston and Hayes fire stations have been in attendance.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
