Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters responded to a house fire on Orchid Close in Beckton.
The loft space of a mid-terraced house was completely gutted by fire, with the roof partially collapsing as a result. Five people left the property before the Brigade arrived and there are no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was first called at 2342, receiving three calls about the fire, and the incident was under control by 0113. Firefighters from Plaistow, East Ham, Barking and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental, caused by an electrical fault in the loft space.
