Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a house fire on Jamestown Way in Tower Hamlets.
A small part of the second and third floors of a four-storey mid terraced townhouse were damaged by the fire.
A man suffering from smoke inhalation left the property before the Brigade arrived and was treated on scene by the London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 1025 and the fire was under control at 1235. Fire crews from Poplar, Plaistow, Stratford and Shadwell fire stations were in attendance.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
