Sadly, a man has died following a flat fire on Rotherfield Street in Islington.
A four-roomed flat on the ground floor of a residential block was destroyed by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man, who was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. Another man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0050 and the incident was over for firefighters by 0221. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Islington, Shoreditch and Euston fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
