Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a house fire on Chandlers Mews on the Isle of Dogs.

Part of the third floor of a terraced house was damaged by fire. Three people left the building before the Brigade arrived and were assessed on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by items coming into contact with a halogen lamp.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Lightbulbs can get incredibly hot and can set fire to combustible materials.

"It's important to keep them away from anything that might catch fire such as books, clothing, sheets and curtains.”

The Brigade was called at 1022 and the fire was under control by 1100. Fire crews from Millwall, Shadwell, Whitechapel and Bethnal Green fire stations attended the scene.
