Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters responded to a flat fire on Gladstone Road in Chiswick.
The ground floor lobby of a block of three floors was partly damaged by fire. Firefighters led one man from the second floor to safety using a fire escape hood. The man was treated on scene for smoke inhalation, before being taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
Control Officers took three calls about the fire, with the first received at 1543. Crews had the fire under control by 1624. Fire engines from Chiswick, Acton and Hammersmith fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.
