Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters responded to a fire on Great Cumberland Place in Westminster.
The fire occurred in residential block of flats consisting of five floors. The kitchen of a flat on the third floor was partly damaged by fire. One male resident was led to safety from the flat by firefighters and there are no reports of any injuries.
Control Officers took the first of six calls reporting the fire at 1700, and the fire was under control by 1720. Firefighters from Paddington, Soho and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
