Sadly, a man has died following a flat fire on Newport Avenue in Plaistow.
A ground floor room was mostly damaged by fire. A man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.
The Brigade was called at 0515 and the fire was under control by 0636. Crews from Plaistow, East Ham and Poplar fire station attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
