Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters were called to a waste fire on Imperial Way in Croydon.
Firefighters have tackled a large fire at a waste disposal warehouse and offices. A large amount of waste materials were on fire and residents in the area were advised to shut their windows and doors due to the smoke.
The Brigade's Control Room received 11 calls about the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 2141 and the fire was under control by 0446. Fire crews from Croydon, Norbury, Woodside and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
A small amount of waste remains alight and firefighters will remain at the scene for several more hours to dampen down the area.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
