Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire in a car park on Lea Bridge Road in Hackney.
A small part of an underground car park below a block of flats was damaged by fire. The car park was heavily smoke logged, and crews ventilated the area. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1838 and the fire was under control by 1941. Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Leyton and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a fault within a boiler.
