Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Ash Grove in Hounslow.
A small part of a living room on the ground floor was damaged by fire. One man was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. Another man escaped to a flat roof on the first floor, he was led to safety by crews via an internal staircase.
Sub Officer Glenn Paterson attended the scene, he said: “This incident is a timely reminder to ensure you have working smoke alarms.
“You should have working smoke alarms in every room where a fire can start, plus a heat alarm in the kitchen and the bathroom. They should be tested regularly.”
The Brigade was called at 2025 and the incident was over by 2054. Crews from Feltham and Heston were at the scene.
The fire is believed to be caused by an electrical fault in an electric fan.
