Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a shop fire on Upminster Road South in Rainham.
A small part of a shop with flats above was damaged by the fire. There were no injuries reported.
The Brigade was called at 1947 and the fire was under control at 2019. Fire crews from Wennington, Dagenham, Hornchurch and Barking fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental caused by an electrical fault.
