A man has sadly died following a fire at a flat on Chigwell Road in Woodford Green.
Most of a flat on the first floor of a mixed-use, two-storey building was damaged by fire. One man left the building before the Brigade arrived. Sadly, a further man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 1419 and the fire was under control by 1450. Fire crews from Woodford, Walthamstow and Hainault fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
