Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a pub with flats above on Warren Street in Fitzrovia.

A flat roof on the first floor of the building was destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters removed a gas cylinder and cooled it to an ambient temperature as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 10 calls to the blaze.

The Brigade was called at 1002 and the fire was under control by 1122. Fire crews from Euston, Soho and Islington fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
