Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Strasburg Road in Battersea.
Part of a four-roomed flat on the fifth floor of the building was damaged by fire. One adult and one child were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. Sadly, one dog died.
Station Commander David Hill, who was at the scene, said: "Crews worked incredibly hard to quickly bring the fire under control.
"Around 40 people left the property, whilst others remained in their unaffected flats.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 10 calls to the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 1035 and the fire was under control by 1128. Fire crews from Clapham, Battersea, Chelsea, Lambeth, Wandsworth and Fulham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
