Waste facility fire - Brentford

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to a fire in a waste transfer facility on Transport Avenue in Brentford. 

Around 20 tonnes of domestic waste was alight. One of the Brigade's 32m ladders was deployed as a water tower to fight the fire from above. Crews also used the nearby River Brent as a source of water to aid in firefighting.

Crews remained on scene into the evening. There are no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 19 calls reporting the fire. The first call was received at 1252, and the incident was under control by 1748. Crews from Heston, Ealing, Acton and surrounding fire stations attended the scene. 

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
