Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at an asphalt plant on Pump Lane in Hayes.
Part of a storage silo containing four tonnes of asphalt was damaged by fire and the asphalt was removed by an onsite digger and extinguished. There were no injuries. One of the Brigade's 64-metre turntable ladders was deployed at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0149 and the fire was under control by 0342. Crews from Hayes, Southall, Wembley, Northolt and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and caused by a mechanical failure within a heat extractor.
