Firefighters rescued an 11-week old puppy that found itself trapped between a garden wall and a conservatory on Shaw Close in Hornchurch.
The Brigade was called by Cleo's worried owner, as the German Shepherd pup had managed to crawl around 8 feet along the gap where she was wedged with her paws in the air and unable to move.
Sub Officer Stuart Vanhegan said: "When we arrived we could see that the poor pup was wedged into the gap and our only option was to dismantle part of the conservatory to reach Cleo. Firefighter Gemma Allen managed to grab Cleo, safely remove her and pass her to her very relieved owner."
After the incident, the crew from Hornchurch Fire Station wanted to help Cleo’s owner and rebuilt the part of the conservatory that needed to be dismantled so that Cleo's owner would not have to pay for its reconstruction.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Firefighters love animals too and we are ready, willing and able to assist distressed or injured animals – the last thing we want is for people to put themselves at risk rescuing an animal themselves – but we do encourage people to call the RSPCA in the first instance and we will assist if our specialist equipment is required, as in this case.”
The Brigade was called at 0910 and the incident was over for firefighters at 0936.
