Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a residential block of flats on Lordship Road in Hackney.
A three-roomed flat on the second floor of the seven-storey building was destroyed by fire. One adult woman was led to safety by firefighters from a balcony using a 32 metre turntable ladder. There are no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took over 15 calls to the blaze. The Brigade was first called at 0123 and the fire was under control by 0318. Crews from Stoke Newington, Holloway, Tottenham and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
