Firefighters rescued three people from a flat fire on Baythorne Street in Mile End.
Part of a four-roomed flat on the ground floor of a residential block was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued two men from the building. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1747 and the fire was under control by 1825. Fire crews from Poplar, Millwall, Bethnal Green, Whitechapel and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
