Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters responded to a fire near Chadwell Heath.
Around six hectares of grassland has been destroyed by fire. Firefighters worked to extinguish pockets of fire at numerous locations across the site. Smoke from this fire was visible across East London.
The Brigade received over 35 calls reporting the fire, with the first taken by Control Officers at 1757. Crews had the incident under control by 2000. Firefighters from Romford, Ilford, Dagenham and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.
