Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a house on Elm Road in New Malden.
Half of the roof of a mid terraced house was damaged by the fire. Two people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as a water tower to help fight the fire from above.
The Brigade was called at 0512 and the incident was over for firefighters at 0649. Crews from New Malden, Wimbledon, Surbiton and Kingston Fire Stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and the cause has been recorded as undetermined.
