Building fire - Southwark

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters responded to a fire on Thurlow Street, Southwark.

The fire was located in a partially derelict block of flats and crews carried out a systematic search of the building. Around twelve members of the public were evacuated from the building by firefighters and led to safety. There are no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was first called about the incident at 0807, and the Brigade's Control Officers mobilised crews from Old Kent Road, Peckham, Dockhead and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The incident was under control by 1059.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
