Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a fire at a scaffold yard and vehicle repair unit on Norwood High Street.
Part of the scaffold yard and half of an adjacent single-storey motor repair workshop were alight. Around 30 people left neighbouring buildings before the Brigade arrived. There have been no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's Control Officers took the first of 14 calls to the fire at 2308 and mobilised crews from West Norwood, Brixton, Norbury, Forest Hill and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 0116.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as undetermined.
