Fire - Royal Free Hospital

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to a fire at the Royal Free Hospital on Fleet Road, Hampstead.

The fire was located in a recreation building on the hospital site. Part of a studio on the first floor of the building and half of the external fascia was damaged by the fire. 15 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.

One of the Brigade's 32m ladders was deployed to the scene to fight the fire from above. 

Control Officers received the first call at the fire at 1115 and mobilised crews from Kentish Town, West Hampstead, Paddington and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1251.

The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by hot works on the roof of the ground floor.
