Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a house converted into flats on Marloes Road in Kensington.
Part of a ground floor flat was damaged by the fire. One woman was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using an internal staircase and was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service.
One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as an observation tower to help fight the fire from above.
Control Officers received the call at 0104 mobilised firefighters from Kensington, Chelsea, Paddington and Hammersmith fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 0203.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by textiles placed too close to a halogen light.
