Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a block of flats on Romford Road in Forest Gate.
A small part of a four roomed flat on the fifth floor was damaged by the fire. Around 80 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There are no reports of any injuries.
Control Officers received the call at 2053 and mobilised crews from Plaistow, Ilford, Woodford and Barking fire stations to the scene. The incident was over for firefighters at 2134.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
