Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tacked a fire at a residential block of flats on Talbot Square in Westminster.
A bedsit on the fourth floor of the five-storey building was partially damaged by fire. Around 30 people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade. There are no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 2333 and the fire was under control by 0037. Crews from Paddington, Kensington and Soho fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believes to be accidental and caused by mechanical damage to an electrical extension cable.
