Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a semi-detached bungalow with a loft conversion on Lakefields Close in Rainham.
The roof of the property was destroyed by the fire. Half of the ground floor of the bungalow and part of the roof of the adjoining bungalow were damaged by the fire. Two people left the adjoining bungalow before the Brigade's arrival. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 0154 and the fire was under control by 0308. Firefighters from Wennington, Hornchurch and Dagenham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
