Sadly a woman has died following a flat fire in Hackney.
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters responded to a fire on Homerton High Street, in a building of five floors. Part of a ground floor flat was damaged by the fire. A woman was found in the flat, and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade's Control Officers took the first of seven calls reporting the fire at 0823, and the fire was under control by 0939. Firefighters from Homerton, Leyton, Stoke Newington and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
