Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a house fire on Sussex Road in Southall.
Part of the ground floor of a terraced house was damaged by fire. A woman left the building before the Brigade arrived and was assessed on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a candle placed too close to combustible materials.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:“Candles are one of the most common causes of fire. It’s really important that you never leave a candle unattended and keep them away from anything else that can easily catch alight.
“Firefighters recommend Londoners have a look at our online Home Fire Safety Checker to make sure there are no hidden hazards in your home.
“The online tool will ask you a series of questions that will help us work out the level of risk in your home, or the home of someone you care for. It only takes a few minutes to get tailored advice to keep yourself and loved ones safe from fire.”
The Brigade was called at 1515 and the fire was under control by 1637. Fire crews from Southall, Hayes, Ealing and Heston fire stations attended the scene.
