Fire at house converted into flats - West Ham

Firefighters tackled a small fire at a house converted into flats on East Road in West Ham.

Part of a bedroom in a basement flat was damaged by fire. A woman was rescued from the property by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. A man was also led to safety by firefighters. They were both left in the care of London Ambulance Service.

The Brigade was called at 1741 and the fire was extinguished by 1809. Two fire engines from Plaistow and Stratford fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police.
