Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire on Brookdene Road in Plumstead.

The interior of a brick outbuilding in a rear garden was partially damaged by fire, and the exterior timber cladding on the building was destroyed by fire. One wooden shed and a small amount of household waste were destroyed by fire. There have been no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters removed and cooled one gas cylinder to an ambient temperature as a precaution as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

People in the area were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to large amounts of smoke being produced.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received around 10 calls about the fire.

The Brigade was called at 1323 and the fire was extinguished by 1450. Crews from East Greenwich, Lee Green, Greenwich and Eltham fire stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire has been recorded as undetermined.
