Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Grange Road in Upper Norwood.
A three-roomed flat on the first floor of the seven-storey building was mostly destroyed by fire, and a communal staircase on the first and second floors was fully destroyed by fire. Around 30 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There are no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1332 and the fire was under control by 1717. Crews from West Norwood, Croydon and Norbury fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
