Firefighters have issued a reminder of their smoking safety advice following a fire at a block of flats on Ivatt Place in West Kensington.
Crews tackled a small fire on scaffolding on the sixth floor of the building. Around 50 people left the building before the Brigade arrived and firefighters assisted a further woman to safety. There were no reports of any injuries.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by the unsafe disposal of smoking materials.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "If you smoke, it is vitally important you stub cigarettes out properly when you've finished smoking.
"If you don’t, you risk causing a fire which could not only destroy your home, but also cost you your life."
The Brigade was called at 1255 and the fire was under control by 1343. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Fulham, North Kensington, Wandsworth and Paddington fire stations attended the scene.
