Firefighters are issuing a reminder of their white goods safety advice following a fire at an end of terrace house on Blunts Avenue in West Drayton.

Half of the ground floor was damaged by the fire. Four people left the building before the Brigade arrived and were treated on scene by London Ambulance Service. One dog was rescued from a first floor bedroom by firefighters and is now in the care of its owners.

The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by an electrical fault in a fridge freezer.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “If your white goods start making a strange noise, don’t ignore it. If you think there’s a problem always unplug it and contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair technician.

“Most fires where white goods are the source of ignition are not down to anything you have done – so always make sure you register your appliances as you’ll be informed if any issues are identified with the product you’ve bought.”

The Brigade was called at 2242 and the incident was over for firefighters at 2348. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Heathrow, Hayes, Feltham and Hillingdon fire stations attended the scene.
