Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to a fire at a waste facility on Osier Way, Leyton.
Around 50 tonnes of rubbish was alight. Residents in the immediate area were asked to remain inside, keeping doors and windows shut, as crews responded. This was due to the large amount of smoke being produced. There are no reports of any injuries
The Brigade received the first of around 15 calls reporting the fire at 2220. The incident was under control by 0353. Firefighters from Leyton, Leytonstone, Stratford and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
