Sadly a person has died following a fire in North Cheam.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to a fire in a garden on Church Hill Road. A single-story garden office was completely destroyed by the fire. Whilst carrying out firefighting operations, crews discovered a person who was sadly declared dead at the scene.
The Brigade received the first of 16 calls reporting the fire at 0855, and the incident was under control by 1018. Firefighters from Sutton, Mitcham, New Malden and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
