Six fire engines and around forty firefighters responded to a fire at a hotel on Praed Street, Paddington.
Part of a fourth floor laundry room, in a building of six floors, was damaged by fire. One of the Brigades 32m ladders was deployed to the scene and used as an observation tower. Crews also placed smoke blockers in the building to limit the spread of smoke.
The Brigade was first called about the fire at 1320 and the incident was under control 1550. Firefighters from Paddington, Euston, North Kensington and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental, caused by freshly laundered towels self-heating and catching fire.
