Small fire at underground station – Charing Cross

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a small fire at Charing Cross Underground Station.

Part of an area behind a wall panel on a platform was alight. Firefighters removed panelling to extinguish the fire and ventilated the platform. Crews remained on scene throughout the day using thermal imaging cameras to ensure there were no remaining hot spots. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 0801 and the incident was over for firefighters by 1652. Fire crews from Lambeth, Dowgate and Soho fire stations attended the scene.

The fire is believed to have been accidental.
