Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a disused office block on Sutton Court Road in Sutton.

Around 16 square metres of rubbish outside the entrance was alight and a small part of the external fascia of the building was damaged by fire. Firefighters rescued four people, including a child, from the rear flat roof of an adjoining building via a nine-metre ladder. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade's Control Officers took 25 calls to the fire and gave vital fire survival guidance to those in an adjoining building on how to stay safe before firefighters arrived.

The Brigade was called at 1931 and the fire was under control by 2028. Fire crews from Mitcham, Croydon, Wimbledon and Sutton fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
