Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to a fire on Boston Road, Hanwell.
The fire was located in the secure parking area of a vehicle workshop. Five vehicles were destroyed by the fire, and another five were heavily damaged. Part of the workshop and surrounding fencing were also damaged by flames. One person was rescued at the scene by crews using a ladder, and there are no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters carried out operations to cool off a number of gas cylinders located at the scene. Around 50 people from adjacent properties were evacuated by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service as a precaution whilst we responded.
Traffic around the junction of Boston Road and the A4020 will remain impacted as we begin to leave the scene.
The Brigade's Control Room took the first of over 15 calls reporting the fire at 0504, and crews from Ealing, Southall, Acton and surrounding fire stations have been mobilised to the scene. Firefighters had the fire under control by 0709.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
