Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Thurlow Street in Southwark.
A sofa in a communal area on the 11th floor of the 14 storey block of flats was destroyed by fire.
The Brigade's 999 Control centre took their first call alerting them to the fire at 2055 and the fire was under control at 2220. Control mobilised crews from Old Kent Road, Peckham, Dockhead, Lambeth, Bethnal Green, Brixton, Soho and Paddington fire stations.
