Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters attended a fire on Crescent Road in Dagenham.

A single-storey wooden shed in the rear garden of a semi-detached house was destroyed by fire. An adjacent shed was also damaged by fire along with garden fencing. One man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Firefighters removed four gas cylinders from the scene and cooled to an ambient temperature as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

The Brigade’s Control Officers received around 10 calls about the fire.

The Brigade was called at 1952 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Dagenham, Ilford, Hornchurch and Barking fire stations to the scene. The fire was brought under control by 2111.

The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.
